Welcome to week 2 of the Learning to Speak AACtion Plan! If you missed the beginning of this 12 week plan, check out last week’s post for the details! It’s a plan to help the support people in the lives of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) users learn the AAC system and become more comfortable with modeling. You can jump in now!
If you participated last week, we’re glad you’re back! The number of you who responded to the survey preliminarily increased your modeling significantly last week, so congratulations! Prior to last week, in a typical week, 50% of you said that you modeled fifteen minutes or less, and last week, only 17% of you said you modeled fifteen minutes or less! That’s so exciting!
Your survey responses are really appreciated. The Week 1 survey is open until 11:59 pm EST tonight if you haven’t had a chance to complete it. It’s 11 multiple choice questions that will take you less than 5 minutes!
Thanks to all of you who are sharing your stories, experiences, and photos of your children taking part in the challenge as well.

Finally, here are the Week 2 words! Have some fun this week with negation! As valuable as it is for your AAC user to be able to tell you what he/she wants, it is SO important to provide language for your child/client to tell you what he/she does NOT want.
