Welcome to Week 6 of the Learning to Speak AACtion Plan! This week, one of my students made organic dog treats to donate to the animal shelter, and he gave me a package to give to my dog. Since today also happens to be Valentine’s Day, I wish you all the kind of joy that my dog experienced from receiving that little bag of treats and that today and always you are surrounded by love. I have had wonderful opportunities this week to connect with parents in person, which is always refreshing! Thank you to all of you who took time to sit with me and share your stories, challenges and successes…but especially thank you for sharing your children. It is invigorating when I have the chance to have these conversations with parents and professionals who are working to help their children/students become independent communicators. Continuing to work with individuals who use augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) makes us want to do all we can to know them better. As we continue with Week 6, if you have fallen off of the AACtion Plan, jump back on anytime. I’ve purposely written these so that people can go back to them in the future.
